About me

Jéssica Queiroz is a Black Brazilian filmmaker from the outskirts of São Paulo. Experience in editing, screenwriting, and directing, she is one of the most versatile and promising voices in Brazilian cinema today.

She graduated in film directing from the International Film Academy (AIC) and in editing from Instituto Criar. Her short film Peripatético (2017), set in the São Paulo periphery, received critical acclaim and won Best Screenplay and Special Jury Prize at the Brasília Film Festival, with screenings at Rotterdam and BlackStar (USA).

Jéssica has directed campaigns for major brands like Volkswagen, Facebook, TikTok, and Avon, and brings a unique aesthetic shaped by both cinema and advertising. She also directed Mila in the Multiverse (Disney+), Passinho: Dancing to the Dream (Disney+), and Sutura (Amazon Prime).

She is the creator of Melanina, a dramedy series in development supported by SPCINE, and has worked as a shadow director on Netflix's 3%. Jéssica continues to blend bold political narratives with accessible, visually striking storytelling across formats.
