Jessica's work
About Jessica
Dear Ms. Marlowe,
I am writing with regards to your Proofreader vacancy which is of great interest to me. I would love to work for The Marketing Practice and enhance my knowledge of B2B marketing.
I feel that I would be an excellent candidate for this position as I have very strong written and verbal communication skills. I have been able to develop and shape these skills both over the course of my French and Spanish BA and also in my current position as a Customer Liaison Executive for Belgian customers at Swets Information Services. Whilst studying I was given the chance to write many essays on a variety of subjects, frequently obtaining first class grades. I therefore believe my writing skills to be sound. I also have an excellent eye for detail with an extremely thorough knowledge of grammar and language conventions in English, French and Spanish. I believe that studying grammar so closely in French and Spanish has deeply enhanced my understanding of grammar in the English language also.
My current position at Swets Information Services has given me exposure to a wide variety and large volume of correspondence. I feel that, in a highly demanding customer service role, time management skills are essential. I have been expected to deal with all manner of queries in a pressurised environment and, in consequence, I am very well equipped to balance projects and workload. Working in customer service has also allowed my negotiation and problem solving skills to become well developed; I am required to negotiate between publishers (who provide us with products and services) and customers (to whom we provide these services) to resolve problems on a daily basis. I believe these to be skills that are essential in proofreading: being able to balance multiple and varied projects and a tactful approach towards resolving problems and ambiguities that arise over the course of these projects.
Many thanks for taking the time to consider my application; please find attached a copy of my CV. I look forward to hearing from you.
Kind regards,
Jessica Livesey
