About me
Hi there,
I am Jess Lawrence, Content Creator for Peoplevox and Creative Writing graduate from the University of Gloucestershire with first class honours. At university I was awarded the Creative Writing Tutors' Prize for determination, commitment, and enthusiasm during the course; characteristics that I continue to imbue in all my work.
The company I currently work for, Peoplevox, is the leader in warehouse management software for eCommerce companies. As you might imagine, writing about warehouse processes isn't quite as exciting as writing an epic novel about astronauts and dinosaurs, but my time in the role has taught me a great deal and I try to squeeze in as much of my sense of humour as is possible and appropriate.
I am currently the sole writer for the blog and I have grown it from a neglected page in the website footer to a much more healthy page updated regularly with industry commentary and warehouse best practices. I have helped to grow our organic reach considerably in the time I have been with the company and bolstered our social following.
As well as writing blog posts, it is also my job to create copy for downloadable collateral such as eBooks, design SlideShares, update social media channels, edit external copy, draft press releases, write case studies, create infographics (albeit with limited software), keep up to date with the latest SEO tips and tricks, and manage external agencies for eBook design and website updates.
Misused apostrophes are my nemesis, I'm an advocate of the Oxford Comma, and I love seeing people correctly punctuate the word 'too'. Ever keen to learn more, I enjoy research. For my dissertation I wrote a full-length play about the Syrian Civil War, initially knowing very little about the conflict. After five months with Peoplevox I could also tell you exactly why SaaS warehouse systems are better than on-premise solutions.
My ideal role is simply one that keeps me busy and has me writing. Anything more than that is a happy bonus.
