About me

To whom it may conern,

I am a recent graduate (July 2009), completing four years studying fashion design in Dublin (Ireland), after which I produced and sold my own label to the public in Dublin and I have also been working as a freelance pattern cutter, seamstress and costume designer in the advertising industry for last four years. I am keen to pursue my career in pattern cutting and design in London and so I decided that it was important to gain work experience within industry here. I moved to London last November to complete an internship, which I have done with Christopher Kane.

During my studies and internship and also through running my own business, I have learned great deal of knowledge of the fashion Industry, pattern cutting, fabrics, textures, color combinations and design. My college studies entailed a strong emphasis on design, pattern drafting, garment assembly, toiling, draping and quality of finish, thus I am very proficient in all of these areas. In 2009 I successfully won designer of the year, I became a finalist in the Nokia new young fashion designer in 2008 and I also won the prestigious Woolen Mills award in 2008 for my design and skill in tailoring.

I strongly believe that with my experience, skills and positive attitude, I will become a valuable asset to any fashion company. I am hard working, flexible, motivated, determined, hungry to learn and get ahead in the industry.

Please contact me if you feel you have a suitable role for which you would like me to apply for.

Kind Regards,

Jean Melia.
