Dear sir / madam,
I am writing to apply for the role of Digital Content Editor. I am a passionate and experienced digital specialist, having worked for almost ten years in online editorial roles across a range of industries, including healthcare and education.
I have just completed a three-month contract as a Digital Communications Manager at the Office of the Children's Commissioner, an arm's-length government organisation that champions the rights of children in England. In this role I oversaw all monitoring and planning of social media channels. I also led the redevelopment of the organisation's website, liaising with our online suppliers and gathering requirements for a new design and information architecture.
My background lies firmly in writing and editing for the web. In my last permanent role, which ended in December 2015, I worked as an Editorial Manager at Kaplan International Colleges, where I had full responsibility for the content lifecycle of a suite of lead generation websites in the field of international student recruitment to UK universities. I also line managed three website editors, owned branding and editorial style guidelines, developed an automated quality assurance process for content, and collaborated with the IT Product Owner to initiate new web builds.
Over time, I have expanded my skillset to encompass video filming and editing, and web analytics to inform content optimisation.
