Licensed to practice law in Florida and Illinois, Jay Paul Deratany leads a respected Chicago litigation firm and has experience in areas such as foster care negligence and medical malpractice. He has also been selected as an Ekroth Award recipient for his representation of women with disabilities. A longstanding member of the Board of Advocates of the Illinois Trial Attorneys Association who has achieved several multimillion-dollar settlements, Jay Paul Deratany also maintains active membership with the Chicago Bar Association.

In addition to writing articles published in The National Law Journal and Fostering Families Today, Mr. Deratany has been quoted in high-profile articles published in the New York Daily News and USA Today. Over the years, he has also presented in a number of public forums on a wide variety of topics, including municipal court trial practice and bad faith in Illinois insurance claims.

Jay Paul Deratany studied for his JD at DePaul University College of Law, where he engaged in pro bono legal work by, among other things, drafting wills and trusts for people with AIDS. An active member of the Writers Guild of America, he holds an MA in screenwriting earned from the University of California, Riverside. Respected as an actor and a producer, he authored the play Haram Iran.
