About me

Dear Sir/Madam,

Over almost five years I have worked with Dubble Chocolate in a variety of roles on a freelance basis to deliver digital content via the web, social media and email. I've authored three annual reports including recommendations based on statistical analysis of email and other digital campaigns. Over the past six months I have also helped Citizens UK, the largest alliance of grass-roots institutions in Europe, to build it's email database and develop a viable communications strategy.

I designed a process, for Dubble Chocolate to deal with potential retailers from leads generated by supporters using a campaign tool. This process includes an email programme including automated messages, telephone follow up and direct mail of Point of Sale materials. In addition to this I have managed a community of 50,000 supporters who engage with the brand on the web as well as through social media and primarily via an email programme which is currently delivered over CheetahMail.

In working with Citizens UK, I have been able to contribute my skills and experience in a less corporate environment. Where communicating and managing multiple internal and external stakeholders is crucial and the context is overtly political. As a freelancer, winning confidence has been crucial. Employers must have confidence in your work and that must be backed by an ability to deliver on KPIs. Having been invited back for almost five years with Dubble Chocoalte, I feel that this confidence is evident.

At Dubble the timelines are always tight as we keep up with major partners such as Comic Relief, Beano and Sainsbury's while running on tight budgets. This year confirmation that our Red Nose Day product would be in Sainsburys didn't come through until four weeks before Red Nose Day. I pulled together an email campaign, web updates, a feature on the Beano website, a YouTube video which was produced by sixth form students, as well as a successful social media campaign.

I graduated with a first class honours degree in Politics & International Relations from the University of Kent, achieving a grade of 74% for my dissertation. So my written communications skills are well developed from academic to marketing and political contexts. I have delivered assemblies and training to groups of up to 200 during my time at Justice Arts Education as Communications Officer. I continue to present campaign results to senior management at Dubble Chocolate both verbally and in the form of written reports and recommendations.

I hope that you will consider my application favourably and look forward to hearing from you soon.

Yours Faithfully,

Janarthanan Mills
