About me

Hey I am Jamie

I'm studying multimedia games development at UCLan and specialise in flash as3.

I have risen through the class and have come up on top in my flash skills, and by doing work outside of class have far exceeded what the university has asked of me. I look for challenges and then use the skills I have to succeed in creating games that are imaginative but very simplistic as my focus is mobile applications.

Within the next few weeks I will have released an app onto the apple app store (it is a game which uses the physics engine Box2D to create awesome game play which is addictive). It is almost fully tested, just need to finish my exams, so this annoyingly gets second priority over getting a degree.

I may not have the industry experience; however I have the skills to develop at a level far beyond that of a developer who's been in the industry for 3 years. Although will only be a graduate I believe my knowledge means that by applying for graduate jobs I will quickly get bored of not being able to use the range of skills I have and have a lot more to offer than 99% of graduates.

However it's not just my as3 skills that I have, I also have good people skills and good communication skills. When working in a group I can either assign tasks to different people looking at what they are good at doing and giving the correct task to them, however I can also be given a task and will go and complete that task, and come back for more. I have had experience in both these fields, with the app I'm programming having other people working on it and me giving them tasks, as well as being able to complete assignments to and incredibly high level (96% is the only flash assignment I have had back, with a 64% average in HTML/PHP).

Through my degree I have been given the opportunity to gather a large range of skills in other fields including a module learning about how the agile system works as well as skills in Human Computer Interaction and design modules. This again is proving that although I may not have industry experience I have skills that can easily be transferred into an industry environment

This website doesn't allow the upload of the correct file types to show what I can do so if an email is sent I can upload to websites such as new grounds to show off my skills to you.

Thanks for reading
