About me
Dear Sir / Madam
I have learnt an awful lot in my current position, but ideally this is not what I want to be doing as a career. I have a lot of potential within the right environment, but at the moment this is just being wasted. I would like my career to be based around something I enjoy as well as being rewarding. This is why I am for one of this position.
I am really good at coming up with musical ideas. I utilise my seven years of music production experience, using industry standard recording applications and my ability to play the drums and guitar. I have included some examples of my hip hop work on my CV, but I also create music in a variety of other genres.
I am a confident using Final cut, compressor and MPEG Streamclip. I use these programs for my personal and paid projects and can utilise their facilities to a professional level. I would very keen to learn the other programs that I have not been able to purchase. You will see form my CV that I have learnt a number of industry applications. Because I already have a sound knowledge of creative programs I know that i could learn these quickly.
I really enjoy shooting and editing video as it gives me the opportunity to use my visual imagination. I have become very familiar with Final Cut and I can produce professional results quickly due to my motivation and hard work. I feel as though I have achieved something when I have seen a project through from start to finish which i have worked hard on.
My CV highlights some of my skills form my current role as a senior systems administrator. The most useful skills I can transfer into this role would be my organisational skills and my knowledge of IT systems. Within the last year I have been asked to manage two projects for the Council. One being an archiving project and the other, a year end financial project. I managed to complete both tasks on time due to my effective prioritisation and time management skills. I received a special recognition payment form the Council for my efforts. I am heavily involved with IT and on a daily basis I check that backups have successfully completed. I deal with other systems housekeeping such as disk usage and document imaging management which all have to be maintained so that my colleagues can work effectively.
I believe I have the correct musical background that is required for this role. I graduated from the Academy of Contemporary Music in 2007. I learnt many professional techniques including best studio practices, songwriting and session playing. These skills link to the work experience I am undertaking as a sound engineer will give me the ability to perform for any recording sessions that are required.
I am a positive individual with a thirst to succeed. I have a really creative imagination which i could utilise to come up with new and exciting ideas. This is a rare and exciting opportunity and I hope you can see the potential in me for one this role.
Yours sincerely
James Webb
