ABOUT
AWL-E approached JD Designs with a bold vision: to introduce the Agile Station, a groundbreaking wireless charging solution designed to simplify and transform how electric mobility devices are powered.
The Mission
My task was to develop a strategy and comprehensive visual identity that captured the essence of the innovative charging station, while positioning AWL-E’s technology as a driving force in the evolution of smart cities, enabling seamless, wireless energy transfer across diverse sectors. The brand would need to bridge this visionary concept with real-world impact, emphasising simplicity, scalability and accessibility.
The Process
I began by focusing on AWL-E’s core values: innovation, autonomy, and sustainability. The Agile Station wasn’t just a charging pad; it represented independence for users and efficiency for fleet managers. To capture this, I developed a brand strategy centred on:
- Fluidity and Simplicity: Reflecting the effortless charging process.
- Human-Centric Design: Building trust and accessibility for diverse audiences.
- Scalable Innovation: Positioning AWL-E as a leader ready to grow across sectors.
I presented three unique and stylised mood boards, known as Stylescapes, that reflected a distinct approach to the brand’s identity, tailored to the insights gathered during the discovery phase. The Stylescapes included the proposed logo, colour palette, typography, brand patterns and graphic elements to create a cohesive preview of how the brand could exist in reality.
The customer appreciated the people-centric photography, the dynamic logo of Stylescape 2 that embodied electricity in motion and the use of indigo within Stlyescape 3 for its associations with innovation and trust. They also valued the addition of green tones for aligning with their focus on wellness and sustainability. Ultimately, they chose the aesthetic of Stylescape 2, incorporating select colours from Stylescape 3.
The lightning bolt that forms the brand icon symbolises the speed, power and energy that define their wireless charging technology. This design choice effectively communicates the brand’s promise of enabling users to charge their mobility devices quickly and effortlessly, without the need for human interaction.
To support Agile Station’s launch, I designed a cohesive suite of print and digital assets. The visual identity assets focused on sleek, tech-forward aesthetics with a human-centric, approachable design.
I created composited visuals that showcase users of mobility vehicles in diverse, real-world environments—such as shopping malls and cruise ships—without the worry of charging limitations. By blending photography and digital elements, these visuals highlight a lifestyle of freedom, accessibility, and convenience, reinforcing Agile Station’s vision of effortless, wireless energy solutions.
The Outcome
Transforming Agile Station’s identity into a seamless blend of innovation and accessibility, I crafted a visual brand that positions their wireless charging technology as both human-centric and future-ready. Through a dynamic logo, engaging assets and website, the brand highlights their commitment to revolutionising mobility and advancing smart cities, bridging simplicity and scalability while connecting their vision to real-world impact.
