About me
To Whom It May Concern
Please find attached a copy of my CV in order to apply for the Copywriter/Blogger/Content Writer Internship for Culture Odyssey. I am particularly excited about this position due to the high coincidence between my personal interests and the aims and missions of the website.
I, like many people, have a passion for travelling. Not travelling in the sense of all-inclusive pool-side festering, but dusty-ankled, dirt-track backpacking travelling, where one is forced to absorb the culture of the host country, causing it to leave an indelible mark. As well as undertaking such excursions around Eastern Europe, Western Europe and North America, I have spent a great deal of time in France; living in Toulouse in the South-West of France in 2008 and working in the summer of 2010 in Ales, South of France. So whilst I have wide ranging interests and knowledge, I also have narrow and deep experience of one country in particular. I like to stay abreast of French current affairs, usually by reading the French newspaper 'Le Monde'.
My interest in writing stretches back to my early teenage years. When deciding what to study at university it was a toss-up between mathematics and English literature, I opted for the former but later brought my study back in-line with my earlier creative passions by transferring to philosophy. Now I have completed the reversion and partake in all forms of writing: journalism, poetry and prose, looking to forge a career in one of these areas. I submit poems and short stories to journals and maintain a blog.
I think I have the creativity and writing skills to contribute effectively to Culture Odyssey, and please do not hesitate to contact me if you wish to view some of my previous work.
I look forward to hearing from you
Yours sincerely
James Burns
