James' work
About James
Dear Sir/Madam,
I am writing to apply for the Video Editor position within Dynamic Production Facility.
Since my completion of my BA in Film Studies and Video Production I have had a wide range of experience working as a Copywriter, Scriptwriter and Video Editor. This has taught me a huge array of skills necessary for working in a fast paced environment that demands long hours, hard work and a great attention to detail. As a Copywriter and Editor I have had the opportunity to conceive, create and edit releases for television, radio and online, for some incredible big name brands.
As Video Editor within the company I have edited video content and voice-overs for animations and live action shoots. I was also in charge of organising and collating all of the companies completed work, rushes and web content as well as transcoding and exporting footage for various devices and formats. Additionally, I had to export all of the completed work to the strict specifications for Clearcast approval.
As the lead Creative within the company I have worked to make commercials and brand campaigns for a very eclectic and varying audience. Having to look at a product, company or even your target demographic in a way that no one else has in order to create a genuinely unique concept is the kind of challenge that genuinely engages me. Having worked on commercials for many years, I would relish the opportunity to focus my skills on areas I am incredibly passionate about; Film and Music Videos.
Working as part of a small agency has meant I have had to undertake multiple roles within the company. Assisting Producers and Production Managers to help organise live shoots, finances and administrative duties within the office has taught me great time management within high-pressure situations. This was most notable when working with the charity Papworth Trust on their first-ever televised ad campaign. Working with a skeleton crew, on a shoestring budget, I had to help location scout, production manage and 1st A.D, as well as my normal positions within the team. Learning how to tackle each of these new roles as they presented themselves proved to be an exciting and interesting challenge.
Handling multiple projects at once, whilst adhering to strict deadlines with great demands on resources and time, is the kind of challenging work I hope to continue tackling in the future. I would very much welcome the opportunity of an interview to explain how I can combine my enthusiasm of learning and creativity to benefit your company.
Please find my CV attached.
Yours sincerely,
James Banks
