About me

Dear Sir or Madam

I would be very interested in working in the creative industry, having a lot of knowledge of visual culture that I believe would translate easily into the world of marketing. Visual culture and an understanding of 'aesthetic' is surely important in an industry the function of which is to make products and services attractive. Tailored media seems to be a company that requires a lot of creativity, having watched your videos online I can see that creativity and development play an important part in the work that you do.

Maintaining good connections with people and businesses often means venturing into the digital world, ensuring a strong online presence, this is something I gained experience in whilst working for CurleyStreet Media in India. They required me to maintain the companies Facebook, Blogger and Twitter feeds. This of cause was different from using social media in an informal context but required a similar sort of tone when communicating, certainly the key to this sort of corporate communication is to remember to properly represent the company.

The Syndicate Room also requested that I help them make a series of corporate videos for one of the smaller companies they were representing. This required meeting the chair person and the board of directors and making a series of short films about why the Syndicate Room was a safe investment. The film had to be informative on several complex financial points yet also concise enough for use on their website, a sort of advertisement that would include some inspiring visual metaphors as well a. The executives where not used to being on camera so I had to engage them in a way that made them feel comfortable yet also eliciting the necessary information. Tailored Media's videos seem in a similar vein to the finished product that I created for this project.

I am used to working on creative projects, especially with teams and large groups of people. In April production will finish on my micro-budget film that I and a few University friends organized, it required a lot of collaboration and collusion but it will be worth it in the end to see the project finished in the manner in which we dreamed. It required a lot of logistics and planning, maintaining cordial relationships with all the key players-whom where often working pro-bono-making sure that everyone was aware of the role they were playing and how this role fitted into the wider aims of the project.

Working long and odd hours is something I am used to. I await your response with great interest and hope you will consider me for the position.

Yours Faithfully

James William Baker
