Creative Lead/ Digital Designer for Pulse Innovations

Dear Mr Richardson,

I am writing to apply for the above role advertised on the Hawk-Eye Innovations and Creative Pool websites.

A Graduate in Natural Sciences, majoring in Physics and Mathematics, from the University of Bath, I currently work as a Systems Operator for Hawk-Eye Innovations at worldwide tennis and cricket tournaments. Combined with a previous 15-month undergraduate month placement, I have already gained valuable experience, knowledge and understanding of Hawk-Eye Innovations Ltd.

Within my present role, I effectively plan, organise and communicate with a range of professionals, including: tournament and broadcasting personnel, Hawk-Eye colleagues, management and engineers. I lead and manage teams, operate at events and ensure I deliver the highest possible standards in all areas; building and facilitating good relationships, as a loyal, dedicated representative of the company.

In 2009, fuelled with excitement, I applied to, and was accepted by, the Universities of Bath and Bournemouth to undertake a practical Engineering Doctorate in Digital Entertainment. Prior to attending two industry placement interviews for the Doctorate (Computer Games Company and Visual Effects Company), I withdrew to work for Hawk-Eye, where, in addition to my Systems Operator role, I have developed technical skills and expertise and demonstrated inherent creativity through digital mediums; including the use of Adobe Photoshop and 3Ds Max.

Over the past year, I have initiated and executed significant improvements to the 'look' of the 'Virtual World', broadcast as part of the TV coverage at each tennis event. As well as broadening my own knowledge, I have maximised opportunities to share understanding and expertise within the company through teaching and presentations for colleagues. This has resulted in a strong skills base in relevant graphics and 3D modelling throughout the Operating team.

I have devised and implemented new avenues in which to display live statistical information at tournaments and have worked innovatively on design briefs to provide successful wider creative support within the company.

My CV provides details of my experience and achievements that demonstrate key skills in the role I am applying for, and also highlights my passion for sport.

A team player and confident communicator, I consistently strive for excellence and have a keen attention to detail, as well as focussing on the 'bigger picture'. I seek the opportunity to pursue and demonstrate originality and technical expertise in the medium of digital design, while working in a sporting context.
