About me

To whom it may concern,

I am writing to apply for the Freelance Writer job for Creativepool magazine, and I have my fingers crossed that this cover letter will knock your socks off!

As a frequent blogger I love writing about the local cultural sector, reviewing events and performances and conducting interviews with people in the arts community. Having trained in dance, performing arts is my main area of interest however I am also eager to write about fashion, art, travel, marketing, events and any other creative subject.

I have an informal style which represents my personality, and I believe this works well with creative readers. I'm not afraid to ask questions and be bluntly honest - as demonstrated in my rather angry article about getting paid in the arts sector here:

Other publications I have contributed to include The Flaneur and BBM Live magazine, where an article was also included in the print version of the magazine. Here is an example of the travel posts I regularly write:

At the moment I am working full time for a PR and content marketing agency, so I am writing every day. Working from home, I spend my day writing press releases, (I tried to attach examples but can only upload CV) blogs, web copy, social media posts and other copywriting for various clients. While this has been a great opportunity for me and I have developed my written and verbal communication skills, I long to write about what matters to me and voice my opinions, rather than writing on behalf of other businesses. Instead of spotting trends in business and a range of different industries, I want to spot trends and share insights on the exciting creative scene in Manchester (which is constantly expanding).

I am a pro-active worker, and have a flexible attitude, proven by the fact I currently work full time from home and manage my workload effectively. I obviously work well individually but also enjoy working as part of a small team, as I am used to working collaboratively. I have no problem taking on extra responsibilities, and in previous employment have often been promoted to supervisory roles.

If you'd like any more examples of my work just let me know - I am available to start right away.

Kind Regards,

Jade Cayton
