About me

Dear Sir / Madam,

I would like to be considered for the role of Junior Designer.

Having studied the BSc Product Design and Technology course at Loughborough University I believe the skills and knowledge I have attained would be a valuable asset to the team. These include knowledge of mechanical principles, electronic integration, materials selection and manufacturing processes. Throughout my time at the Design School I have developed an excellent understanding and appreciation of all aspects of the design process from ideation through to prototyping, testing and evaluation.

I have recently been awarded a first class honours degree from the Design School at Loughborough University and consider it a reflection of the hard work and commitment I put into my design work.

My year on placement working at Sound Ideas taught me a lot about working in a medium sized enterprise; quickly learning that each project relied on all departments to come together as a cohesive unit; from the sales department and project managers through to engineers and manufacturing. Working within a team and meeting strict and demanding deadlines was a daily occurrence, which provided a valuable insight in to a professional working environment.

Many of the tasks involved working with project managers and engineers to design custom installation solutions for projects around the world. I needed excellent communication skills and technical drawing ability to communicate the designs to manufacturers. Often problems were identified but with each problem and iteration a better solution was found.

I am an ambitious person. The ability to be creative, to work independently and communicate effectively within a team, are all qualities I believe I can offer. I always endeavour to achieve the highest standards of excellence in my work and this is supported by a keen organisational ability and dedication to the task in hand. I believe my education and professional experience up until this time has provided me with skills and understanding and that these qualities would make an excellent addition to the team as an enthusiastic junior designer.
