About me

In my time at University, I completed a Diploma of Graphic Design at RMIT and a Bachelor degree for Visual Communications and Design at Monash University (in Melbourne, Australia). The teaching method at each institution contributed to my education in different ways. RMIT took their time to teach us about printing methods, and went into detail as to why we had to do things a certain way. Monash focused more on the conceptual thinking process. I strongly believe that having completed these two courses has made me a better designer today.

My recent move to England has only heightened my organization and time management skills. Previously, these skills were demonstrated when I chose to overload in the final semester of my Bachelor degree, to work closely with John Warricker, while also being responsible for organizing the Monash Art Design and Architecture Ball. Studying at two different universities and working closely with the designers at Blick Creative, has developed and trained my eye for detail. I enjoy working in a team and learning from others, but also thrive in an environment where I take my own initiative to get things done and perform at a high level. Typography has been one of my favorite subjects as part of studying design. When designing fonts, for example, it takes a great eye to detail.

Undertaking an unpaid three month internship at Blick Creative was a great opportunity, and working at such a reputable small company has been an absolute pleasure. I was trusted with significant responsibility early on, where I had the chance to deal with real clients, be taken to see printers and be involved in group meetings. I learnt so much there that you can only learn in a working environment. I looked forward to get up every morning to go into work, knowing that there is always something exciting coming my way.

My time spent volunteering for the Edmund Rice Camps, placed me in many difficult situations. These experiences have allowed me to develop my communication and organizational capabilities far beyond that which a standard tertiary course can provide. I feel from these experiences I have developed unique leadership skills and a different way of approaching problems. These experiences have given me a well-rounded understanding of different aspects of life, which I hope will help me in my career.

Kind Regards,

Jacinda Anderson.
