About me
I am a highly motivated individual who recently graduated with a Master's in South Asian Area studies degree from the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London. I was a Senior Correspondent for over five years at the Times of India in New Delhi and have been a freelance journalist, editor and analyst. I also briefly ran my very own history, heritage and food walk venture in Delhi in 2019 where I devised heritage experiences for participants and fellow heritage lovers, and contributed to the city's vibrant tourism industry.
During my career as a journalist, I developed strong writing abilities and used interpersonal communication skills to good use working in India's biggest English-language newspaper. This included covering multiple elections in India, covering the year-long Farmers' protest, the Delhi riots of 2020, the Covid-19 pandemic, and other events of historical scale. Having Indian and Pakistani parents, I also had the unique advantage of looking at the events in both countries open-mindedly from different vantage points, which I will bring to work. I have always been an able team player who worked with fellow reporters and desk editors to get the best edition out every day.
As a journalist and an entrepreneur, I have used my analytic and problem-solving skills, which I am sure I can bring to your organisation as well. Studying for my master's at SOAS provided me with the necessary tools required for a research-oriented future for it trained me to collect information from an abundance of data, focus on this information and analyse it, taking on a critical and approach
