About me
Hello there.
I'm very much interested in what seems to be an exciting role as a proofreader.
As I'm sure you're all too aware, there aren't enough people in this world who know their em-dashes from their en-dashes from their hyphens, which is annoying, because it'd be nice to have a few more people who do.
Proofing may be an occupation that receives little acknowledgement, but proofreaders are one of the most important people to consult if one is keen on reflecting their brand in a clear, concise and error-free way. One spelling error may seem of little consequence, but subconsciously it affects the perception of a brand in more drastic ways than you'd think.
Having studied creative writing for three years (and graduating with a first) before going on to become a professional editor in two different roles, I am aware of the finer details when moderating the likes of grammar, sentence structure and spelling before a piece goes to publication or print. One role, for instance, involved checking a physical magazine for factual errors, which was especially important given the large amount of external brands that particular magazine was representing.
Thanks for taking the time for reading through my application. I'll be looking forward to your response.
Regards,
Hugh
