About me
I am due to complete my degree in Graphic and Communication Design with year in industry at the University of Leeds. I will finish in May and am predicted to gain a 2.1. During my degree course, I studied modules such as Graphic Communication and Media, Marketing Creativity and Innovation, Typography and Information Design. The written, verbal communication and design skills gained from these modules through essays, presentations and coursework during my time at Leeds have given me an excellent foundation for building a career in the design industry. As part of my degree, I completed twelve months in industry which allowed me to put my skills into practice.
The first six months I worked for Basil Global in London, where I gained valuable experience in branding and business to business marketing. My ability to interpret design briefs has led to successful projects, some of which included working with some household names within the Unilever brand portfolio such as Hellmann's and Magnum. Strengths such as self motivation and the ability to meet deadlines helped me to reach targets and work well under time pressures.
The second six months was spent at Ardent Creative in Surrey, working as part of a team creating brand identities for a variety of clients and business, including branding for Myanmar National Airlines. This included research, brand strategy and planning as well as pitching my designs to clients in external and internal meetings. I am able to take the initiative as displayed through my time being a lead designer on a number of projects with Ardent Creative. This has given me confidence in communicating directly with clients in a professional manner as well as in my skills as a designer.
