Dear Sir/Madam,

I would like to apply for the Freelance Copywriter vacancy with Morrisons, as I am interested in working within retail and feel privileged to have previously employed by the company.

While working with Morrisons, I gained an understanding of company values and brand identity, which I feel to be particularly emphasised through use of local produce and the preparation of fresh food in store with Morrisons' Market Street. I also believe working with Morrisons enabled me to appreciate the positive customer service they provide and learn of the company's intended consumer market.

Currently, I am an English Literature and Linguistics student in my second year at York St John University, and over the course of my degree have developed critical analysis and writing abilities in varying contexts. Recently I have completed a marketing project with the National Association of Writers in Education; during which I created a press package to promote the organisation, contributed to its website through posting reflective comment on literary news and organised social media updates.

I have previously had material published in daily newspaper The York Press and Nottinghamshire's Fleet Magazine, and am employed by Netcars.com working with a web-based marketing initiative. I also write for the university Student Union Magazine alongside my studies and am passionate about culture, media and modern technology.

As a creative, motivated individual aspiring to work within the publishing industry, I feel I would bring many positive qualities to the company. I would be enthusiastic to work again with Morrisons, having enjoyed by time as an employee and hope to have the opportunity to promote the company and its values.
