About me

Throughout my degree and various projects I have obtained various skills that have enabled me to gain an in depth knowledge and understanding of a diverse range of software and working practices. It has also assisted in developing my proof reading and literacy skills as I have constantly had to employ good oral and written skills, along with an aptitude for learning new processes quickly. I have a strong academic background which means I can easily adapt to business environments, such as RCPO, this illustrates my agility and ability to learn efficiently however at the same time adapt quickly to changes and circumstances. For example, at RCPO a large jury bundle was delegated to myself and had to be completed on the same day, however halfway through the task the case manager urgently required further case papers to be distributed. I had to prioritize and manage my time efficiently to ensure both tasks were completed on time and efficiently.
Art and Design is my core principle and I have acquired strong design skills through projects I have completed. Within learning and using my Art and Design skill set, I have undertaken all the associated activities such as sound recording/gathering and also full video editing. I have designed characters, storyboarded ideas, produced Animatics and modeled in 3D and by hand. I have extensive experience with usage of hardware, from amateur basic level to very complicated professional level. Through gaining experience and working within my media, I have constantly used digital camera equipment, high-end filming equipment, sound editing decks/tables, projection systems, audio gathering and sound effect equipment and much more.

Working for clients I have created strong branding, focusing on their visual identity in accordance to the company and their aims. Work has ranged from website production and design, to business cards, leaflets and booklets all following brand identity and in accordance with agreed requests of the client. This work demonstrates my skill and desire in areas of marketing and branding as well as in design, print and production. I have a professional attitude and detailed knowledge of the design and production process, along with strong software skills and a creative flair. For example in previous job roles, I was very competent in liaising with third parties during the production process, from concept to final product. I independently pitched clients, prepared briefs and arranged other parties to carry out certain aspects of the project, for example by preparing clients work to a set resolution and quality and overseeing the printing process and then presenting the final version to the clients. This resulted in having to work to extremely tight deadlines under pressure, all the while ensuring all work is of the highest possible standard.

Experiences through my various positions in employment have increased my knowledge in the marketing area, having worked in John Lewis for eight years with exposure to merchandising. I have grasped the importance of communicating customer needs throughout an organization.
For example at John Lewis I had to make decisions and take responsibility for meeting daily targets, as I was solely responsible for analyzing trends within the market from weekly sales and then determine the market success of the previous stock allocation, as a result producing graphs and databases was also required as these would help with future allocations. This enabled me to develop my organizational skills further and improved my ability to prioritize work on a daily basis. Selling on the shop floor has also strengthened my communication and interpersonal skills, being able to firstly match products to customer requirements and then to persuade in-decisive customers to go ahead and purchase the product has helped me develop an effective selling technique.

As well as gaining these skills, my knowledge and experience gives me the ability to not only have a practical but also a creative approach to all the challenges I face. For example, when I produced the John Lewis Annual General Meeting presentation for 2005/2006. This consisted of a PowerPoint presentation with video, sound, photos, all of which were fully edited and adapted using various software in accordance to John Lewis' branding and corporate identity. Along with this presentation, I created raffle tickets and booklets that followed the relevant company theme and branding. This whole project was produced to a very professional finish and to a tight deadline, with constant adaptation as the General Manager would add and subtract components throughout the process.

Having worked within Revenue and Customs Prosecutions Office, I have worked to very tight deadlines on cases, producing accurate and in depth high-volume work to a very high standard. Experience of working within the central Government has made me conscious of their practices and methods as well as of their branding and business identity. In addition to this knowledge of the Criminal Justice System, I have gained a great deal of experience and knowledge working in a legal environment.

Further to this experience and skill set, I have gained knowledge and commercial application of my design and creative attributes within Moonshine Media and a work experience placement there. I carried out editing on their showreel using After Effects and Adobe Premiere. I edited sound and video in line with direction from the lead as well as using my own initiative to produce an up to date showreel. I created 3D characters using 3D studio Max and turned their 2D branded characters into 3D ready for further animation and branding. I also created Flash banners through Adobe Flash to help advertise their services online. Using both Mac and PC platforms, I was fully converse in all software used.

Currently working for World Trade Group, a corporate events company as their Audio Visual Producer. I carry out editing on filmed footage on a daily basis. This footage is captured though my direction/management of the onsite camera crew and through my production guidelines. I have attended live events across Europe, where I have managed the entire video capture and photography capture, alongside filming of interviews and promotional material independently. I have carried out interviews with clients for World Trade Group (WTG) and these are used in promotional videos as well as being sold to clients. Each event has approx 25 presentations and 8 interviews, which are then edited by me, both sound and visual, using Adobe Soundbooth, Premiere and After Effects. I have eliminated unwanted audio and sound interference, green screened interviews, cut and edited unwanted footage and produced promotional footage used to book clients onto upcoming events. In addition to this, I have produced Idents that are to be used for promoting the company on Youtube and online (OnDemand section on WTG website show examples of work edited by myself), call to action shots, 3d work and titles too using After Effects and 3D Studio Max. Photographs from each event have been taken by myself, edited and then sent out to clients and used to promote the company online too.

This experience has made me fully aware of time constraints within a creative field and my flexibility and professional approach to problems faced has made sure I have completed the projects on time and to a very high standard each time.
