Dear whom this may concern,
I am really excited that an opportunity at a London design agency has become available. Having completed projects at university and on my work experiences, requiring design, animation, production and print assignments, I am familiar with and understand the requirements of this job you are offering. I am interested in pursuing a role where I can learn more about branding and further my knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite.
I have recently graduated from Nottingham Trent University, with a BA honours degree in Product Design, attaining a 2:1.
Recently, I completed some work experience, as an office runner for Rogue Films. I learnt about the relationship between production and post-production companies. I understand how to produce treatments in response to an agencies brief, which led me to creating my own treatment for Adidas using Indesign on an Apple Mac. Using Adobe Creative Suite, I designed a Christmas invitation for Rogue Film's employees and created spreadsheets using Excel, detailing creative agencies and their contacts. I developed an insight into the production of commercials, and was involved in the creation of background sounds for a Jaguar commercial being released next year.
I have worked as a production runner and junior graphic designer for Netflix's first movie, War Machine, starring Brad Pitt. I gained a broad insight into the film industry and utilised my knowledge of Illustrator, Photoshop and Indesign.
Illustrated in my digital portfolio and website is my final year project 'Echo', gaining the attention of the design industry and won me an opportunity to exhibit it at New Designers 2015 exhibition in London. I used 3ds Max and the V-Ray production renderer to produce photo realistic images of the Echo device, to present the design to my client. To explain the Echo device further, I used 3ds Max to create an animation highlighting its design specifications. I combined this animation with footage of the functioning prototype in Adobe After Effects, to create a short movie explaining the Echo device. I have demonstrated in this Echo project an interest in VFX software and would relish the opportunity of developing this understanding of post-production further in TV.
I spent a year working as a Junior Product Designer for Thinkable Studios ltd, where I became fully conversant with Alias and Modo software. I assisted with team projects, learning to use a variety of software and in the process improving my communication skills with clients, Motorola, Checkpoint and Kitbag. I was part of an exciting and enthusiastic team and I would relish the opportunity of working within a team-based environment again.
