About me
Helena Kingwill is a writer-artist and multimedia storyteller.
Her experience as a print journalist spans over 20 years. She has kept a WordPress blog for 7 years and illustrates it with her own photographs. Following her interests, Helena's subjects have ranged from Environmental awareness stories to arts and entertainment as well as health and parenting. Helena has followed a multi-media path from the start, having studied film and drama. She has worked as a researcher and script-writer for television documentary series and features for SABC, since the late '90s. In 2009 she directed and produced "Buried in Earthskin," her first documentary feature. Since then she has worked as a writer and researcher for celebrity chef Justin Bonello of Cooked in Africa -writing scripts for a television series which aired on BBC-lIfestyle. As an independent film maker for her own company Earth Shine Productions, Helena has produced and directed short environmental documentaries for Non-Government Organizations. Over the years, Helena has continued producing articles as a freelance journalist for national magazines, newspapers, and on digital media platforms. Recently, she has focused more on blogging and developing her own products. She has also worked in the realm of performance story-telling - developing a show with her mullti-instrumentalist husband, Jamie Jupiter, using African music and stories to connect her community with African musicians.
