About me
I am a first class honours graduate in English Literature and Creative Writing with a desire to pursue a career within the cultural/creative sectors. I am enthusiastic, conscientious and ambitious. I have recently completed work placements in three different and successful literary/talent agencies and three publishers. I have much experience in admin, ordering office supplies and supporting staff. I've been invited back to the literary agency PFD to do temp work and I have covered for the Head of Office's assistant. Beautiful Books regularly ask me to help out at book launches. So you can see that I am committed to pursuing a career in a more creative industry- a career that I will be passionate about.
In August I was a Co-Project Manager at The National Botanic Garden of Wales organising The Prince's Trust's PROJECT START launch and helped organise a royal visit. I had to be very persuasive, have an eye for detail and work well in a team to be successful in this role. I had to cold-call people and maintain good relationships with clients. I was also Bizarre Magazine's Student Brand Ambassador where I had to promote the magazine and sell tickets to their summer ball- I sold a substantial amount of tickets and enjoyed the challenge. At Beautiful Books I had to organise an author's book tour and basically sell my author to prospective venues.
I am a hard worker and I am reliable. I find it very easy to talk to people and I am comfortable in new and different situations. I consider myself an excellent multi-tasker, computer savvy and able to work to deadlines. I write a blog called ‘Wide Horizons: My journey from student girl to career woman'. I also organise a book club which has over 80 members.
