About me
After graduating from the London College of Communication in 2004 I developed my own art, design and glass work whilst working for multiple companies in a variety of industries. Initially I worked in TV as a props handler and set painter, as well as storyboarding, working with a director to help communicate camera shots and sequences. I also ventured in front of the camera for a period of time. As I developed my art I found a love of glass and gained a city and guilds in decorative stained glass developing this further under the expertise of Vince Reed in his studio Art with Glass. Always looking for creative ways to support myself I found an opening producing edible art, this led to assisting on the production of promotional products for corporate events with companies including PlayStation and Benefit cosmetics.
In 2010 I had a hiatus from working in the creative industry after the birth of my son. During this time, I gained an international diploma in Montessori Pedagogy which informed an increasing interest in child development, attachment theory and holistic education. Working in both Montessori and mainstream settings during this period I maintained my passion for the arts. I was particularly interested in the design and deliverance of Montessori's teaching apparatus and designing daily art activities for children between the ages of 3-11.
As my son grew older I felt the need to get back into the creative industry and in 2021 I started an Illustration MA with Falmouth University. During this time I discovered a natural inclination in my creative endeavour's— placing a strong emphasis on fostering holistic development and enriching adult-child engagement. I dedicated myself to realising this vision by crafting illustrated books and designing interactive activities as creative tools for communication. This period allowed me to work with both analog and digital mediums.
As I am developing my practice, in both the design and illustration fields I've been gaining experience through commission and speculative work in the areas of logo, branding, surface and book design. I've also been developing my own books and printed games to continue this passion.
