About me

I am interested in a career in art direction for a publishing house. I understand that this career path would start with an artworker role, or junior art editor.I am currently in my final year studying BA (Hons) Fashion: Media and Promotion at Northbrook College Sussex (affiliated with Brighton University), due to finish June 2009. The course covers many skills that are required within the media industry such as: graphics, layout design, forecasting, photography, flash animation, journalism and marketing.For my final major project I created a print based magazine titled 'Spindle', the ethos was to promote emerging creative talent. I designed all of the layouts in InDesign and illustrated the titles for every page, I also produced all of the content, and designed and produced the magazines website *, complete with promotions and budget to demonstrate that my concept would be feasible. Creating Spindle was realisation that art direction is my chosen career path. I particularly enjoyed commissioning and working with illustrators and graphic designers to produce packaging and illustrative pages to a brief, which I wrote. Since producing the magazine, I have gained freelance work designing a booklet for Untold, a collection of designers appearing at the Clothes Show London, happening at the end of May. I am continuing to commission illustrators and directing them to certain briefs. I have gained numerous work experience placements (please see CV) ranging from magazine editorial at Drapers, to production and distribution, marketing at Ben Sherman, styling and event management. An advantage to having me on your company would be that I understand different areas within the magazine sector from creating and publishing a magazine, through to the marketing and promotion, because I have gained industry related experience in that area, or have been through the process myself whilst creating Spindle. I am determined dedicated, I always put 110% into everything I produce, if there is something that I cannot do, I teach myself, as I did with Dreamweaver whilst creating the Spindle website.
