About me
Hello!
My name is Hattie and I am recent Photography graduate from Falmouth University. While studying and achieving a 2:1 in my degree, I also managed to train and compete at the 2015 World Pilot Gig Rowing Championships. Now if that's not hardworking, I don't know what is! (Okay I could have got a first, but we can't be perfect all the time!)
Being a recent graduate, I didn't realise how much of a bubble university could be until I left. Who would have thought, three lovely years floating merrily in happiness and joy could be so rudely popped upon being handed a fancy piece of paper and chocolate coin by the fabulous Dawn French. I'm now faced with things like bills, rent, student loans and other general boring adult things. These are all scary in their own right by far my worst enemy at the moment
Job applications.
The whole being formal thing - it's quite contradictory really - especially considering that at uni we are told to 'stand out from the crowd' and 'make your CV yours' etc. Yet when I was trying to be a little witty in one recent job application, my mum shot down any essence of personality and light-heartedness immediately, just like a lead balloon.
So Hattie we know you're a graduate but what're you up to now
My most recent position, a Social Media and Lifestyle Writer Intern for a start-up fashion magazine, was unfortunately cut short through no fault of my own. Before the scheme was cancelled I really enjoyed working on SEO optimisation, scheduling blog posts, creating the content for their newly released e-commerce shop and of course, being in control of the company's social media campaigns in order to promote new content.
But now I'm back, back on the job application scene. I found your vacancy for a Copywriter and I am excited. I am excited by the idea of creating fresh, new and innovative content again and I am thrilled by the prospect of refining and expanding my writing skills. I am able to take on this position immediately and have the fortitude and creative passion to ensure I excel.
So on the off chance that, whilst reading my *interesting* cover letter and more traditional CV, your cheeks begin to warm, your face relaxes into a grin and your teeth suddenly emerge from the darkness of that stern, serious, employer-type mouth of yours...Then maybe, just maybe you could give me the chance to show you, first hand, how amazingly active, innovative, hardworking, imaginative, motivated, determined, organised, enthusiastic, creative, passionate, adaptable, team-orientated, original, confident, energetic, proactive, resourceful, versatile and whatever other buzzwords you can think of to float your boat I am...
By giving me the job
And if all that fails...
I can make tea.
