About me

I am a dedicated, enthusiastic artist and designer-maker who is buzzing with ideas, wants to get stuck in and feel's I can never stop learning. I have a strong passion in design for the Entertainment industry, especially that of crafting props, creating imaginative spaces, and telling visual stories.

I am passionate about both the entertainment and art industry and hope to have a diverse career straddling the two. My particular area of interest is themed visitor attractions and exhibits where people interact with their surroundings, from a theme park pre-show area to an interactive installation at a museum. I love creating 'pockets' of magic within mundane world.

I completed a three year BA in 'Entertainment Design Crafts', which has given me a broad grounding across the disciplines of set, prop and costume. I'm particularly drawn to prop making and scenic art, as I love the shear diversity of processes and materials it can cover and thoroughly enjoy the practical aspect of making and creating two and three-dimensional pieces using a range of media. I find investigating on both practical and intellectual levels a rewarding challenge. I have a passion and pride in all I create.

As an artistic service I offer everything from set dressing and prop making through to original concepts and designs.

I thrive equally either working on individual projects or alongside others within both large and small teams. In my subsequent jobs I've learnt to work with people, and the various ways to tactfully and articulately communicate and read people, which of course is a very useful skill for any designer. I pride myself on being friendly, fun, approachable and presentable.

You'll find me reliable, dedicated, and open to continued learning with an eagerness to create. I am also highly flexible a present am happy to work wherever life takes me.

Many of my Personal interests reflect and compliment my career. I love to live creatively, travelling and visiting places of interest and observing architecture and culture. I also take photos of anything that excites me visually, and I have a particular eye for colour and quirkiness.

Inspirations

Things that inspire me include: fairy tales, gothic literature, steam punk, the supernatural, surrealism, pop art, landscape architecture, playground design, exhibit design, automata, circus and cabaret, fairground art, window displays, old-skool magic and illusions, French art styles from Rococo to Art Nouveau, Children's book illustration, musical theatre, all things Disney, Tim Burton and Terry Gillingham.
