About me

I have a natural sharpness and charm for Design, which I discovered whilst studying Art and Design and Design and Technology at A-Level and then more creatively in my Art and Design Foundation this has led me onto pursuing further studies within this field. I now aim to gain first hand experience within this area through taking on a challenging work placement, which I believe will assist me in reaching my enduring ambition of establishing a career within this field.

Since a young age, I have been quite inquiring, which has led me onto pursuing academic studies in a subject principally oriented around design, namely Industrial Design and Technology BA. In the course of studying this degree, I have become intrigued by the process of designing a product, right from the generating ideas stage all the way through to manufacturing. Particularly, the way ideas are generated and how and what manufacturing processes are used to complete them. Consequential to my high level of interest in this subject, along with the constant requirement of using design software such as Adobe Photoshop and illustrator in my course, my computer skills have been enhanced to a substantial degree. My development of these skills have primarily assisted me in accurate project compilation, exposing me to various subtle and intuitive aspects of design, which translate into the assessment of competitors, target audience, commercial viability etc. Additionally, the uses of these computer techniques have assisted in the enhancement of my personal life projects.

The second year of the degree allowed me to learn CAD packages such as Pro Engineer and Alias. These allowed me to take designs from paper to screen quickly, adding and experimenting with textures, reflections and lighting to produce a concept that is vivid. They turn thoughts into a virtual actuality before their physical reality which adds to a satisfying and self-fulfilling feeling. Recently I had to design a light for the Design For Manufacture Module. This consisted of designing a light to a brand. The concept of the "Void Light" was a clever combination of minimalism, negative space and decoration which developed from sketches, paper manipulations and blue foam prototypes. During my foundation year in art and design I developed my own creative approach in the design of concepts, products and samples that satisfied weekly briefs. The process commences with updating a visual/sketch journal where I document any interesting 2D/3D material that I may develop through to projects.

I am efficient and able to prioritize work, meet deadlines and keep calm in a crisis. I work well in groups and on my own and am not afraid of taking on new tasks and responsibilities.
