About me

I'm a two-time Emmy nominee with 15+ years of experience managing creative teams in multimedia journalism, television, short-form video, photography, animation and social media.

As a visual storyteller, I've produced and directed award-winning films for National Geographic - a role that's taken me from the lava tubes of Hawaii to the McMurdo Dry Valleys of Antarctica.

As a creative manager, I'm known for building cross-functional teams that produce high-impact content across all platforms with a focus on maximizing audience engagement by telling complex stories in exciting new ways for news, education, and media markets.

When someone asks what I like best about working as a producer, there's only one answer: Storytelling. It's what I do best and love most. Whether I'm making a television series about photography or an animated short about Viking longships, I thrive on making difficult material exciting.

While filming the Emmy-nominated "Building Trajan's Column" for a National Geographic cover story, my hope was that animation would bring to life the construction of an ancient Roman monument. Using stop-motion was technically challenging, but broke new ground and helped us reach a wider mobile audience. The Society for News Design awarded the film a silver medal and said, "Visually it's incredible ... nobody in news is doing stop-motion like this. Technically the explanation is impressive. It's a wonderful thing."

I produce good work because I know what it takes to get there. I manage creative teams because I love to foster emerging talent. You need patience and impeccable technical skill, but you also need to meet deadlines with a willingness to experiment with new ideas, equipment and techniques.

You push boundaries. And you stay until you get it right.
