To the hiring manager,

I am writing to apply for the role of Digital Copywriter as advertised on Creativepool and feel that my experience as both a journalist and a copywriter make me ideally suited to the post.

My time spent as a journalist and copywriter has given me a great deal of experience in working to deadlines and in motivating myself, while also giving me a strong grasp of new medias. I have experience in an extremely varied range of fields, including finance, current events, technology, health, fashion, food and drink and culture, with my experience covering B2B and B2C. I feel that this wide range of experience across different genres, clients and publications has given me the ability to adapt quickly to varying house styles and to be able to tailor my work to a specific brand content style. These are skills which I feel would be extremely beneficial to my role as a Digital Copywriter.

I have held many positions where I have been required to work quickly and efficiently to deadlines. As a news correspondent I was required to write approximately 30 news articles a day while still keeping in regular contact with clients and other departments in the company. I was also required to maintain an extremely high level of accuracy in my work and to sub-edit the work of colleagues to ensure their accuracy. It is this accuracy while under pressure and sharp attention to specific detail which I feel make me extremely suited to the position. These articles needed to be appealing to both industry professionals within the fields and members of the public, giving me experience in writing warm, engaging and interesting copy.

As a result of my varied roles I have a great deal of experience in writing online copy, whether as content for websites or for online news sources. I have also received specific training in basic SEO methods. I feel these skills make me extremely suited to the role.

Through my work as a journalist I also have advanced knowledge of a large number of computer programs, including Word, Excel, Access, Powerpoint and others, as well as knowledge of HTML and a typing speed of 70-80 WPM. I have excellent communication skills which I gained from my experience in regularly conducting interviews as a journalist, maintaining a polite and courteous manner through all situations, and in dealing with clients in my experience in sales and hospitality.
