About me

Hi there,

I am a Senior Video Producer, director, editor and writer looking to become a part of an exciting, enriching and dynamic company to produce compelling films that have a global reach.

At present, I am a SVP contracted to IBM. I produce and deliver high quality videos from news & event pieces, livestream events, bid films and pitch videos. My work is used to win new business, and update clients and internal audiences on the new and dynamic ventures that IBM is engaged in. I produce video from concept through to delivery, often crewing shoots all over the world and pulling assets and resources from multiple internal and external vendors and agencies to create video content that exceeds expectations.

Producing is my favourite discipline. I love marshalling all the resources available and managing relationships with clients and creatives to realise strategic and creative vision, but I am also more than capable of taking a specific role in any particular part of production, from directing, camera operating to editing, grading and motion graphics.

I work across multiple global departments up to senior executive level, and I am highly experienced in understanding the business and strategic requirements of each client. Oftentimes, my role involves negotiating scope with key stakeholders and advising departments on the most efficient and cost effective approach to achieving their vision - both in the practicalities of shooting, and also in the realisation of their creative brief.

Before working for IBM, I worked under the banner of ThomasMarenaCreative Ltd, my freelance video, photography and design agency. I've worked with many clients across many sectors including Polycom, Netbiscuits, BITE and Pegasus. I predominantly took projects from cradle to grave - planning, budgeting, shooting, editing and delivering assets myself. However, when the need arose, I sub-contracted out various disciplines to a trusted group of freelancers on my books, and then project managed the assignment through to delivery, on time and on budget.

Before I went freelance, I was employed by PKR Technologies, an online gaming company, as the chief video editor and co-producer. During my time at PKR I worked in a digital in-house team responsible for creating all media and marketing tools for the game. As a team of designers, editors and web developers we worked closely together ensuring that all deliverables were on brand and on-message. As well as producing the video content for the web and TV broadcasts, I organised, selected and scheduled multi-language voice artists for in-game localised VO work, administrating the recording, raising PO's and handing over the audio assets to the game developers for insertion into the game client.

Outside of my professional work, I am a keen novelist and publisher. I am currently setting up an independent micro publishers based in South East London called TheNeverPress LTD. This publishing house specialises in producing strange and beguiling magical realist fiction - a lost and found for artists and ideas. At present, I am learning about production and distribution globally with my own 13 novels.

As I hope you can see, I like to experiment with ideas and form and really dive into projects. I strongly believe that I have the skills, creativity and passion to excel in the role and become an integral part of your team.

Thank you for your time, and I hope to hear from you soon.
