About me

I would like to apply for the position of digital designer and have attached my CV and a couple of pieces of my work for your consideration.

The skills I have acquired through the last couple of years doing various freelance and other design jobs, such as working for not yet retro records. This was a start up company with whom I worked closely with to create some branding and identity which would help them quickly become known. I designed their logo, inspired by handwriting to give it a personal and nostalgic touch as they wanted to distinguish themselves from the technology heavy sounds of other music labels. The website was created using a combination of HTML, CSS and Dreamweaver.

Then working for the skinny, I found that my time management skills really came into use as the deadline for completion of the student handbook was only 5 days before the handbook was due to go to print. I was able to come up with numerous spreads for the 80 page publication within the time limit. Design for this handbook was completed exclusively using adobe creative suite, particularly InDesign, Photoshop and illustrator.

Weeworld, a social networking and avatar creation site, was another place that my design skills were needed along with an excellent knowledge of adobe packages - Dreamweaver, Photoshop, illustrator and flash. The work required quick turnaround as new content was uploaded weekly and pitches for various companies so that they could have a presence on the site. The pitches consisted on being able to create banners, mock web pages and newsletters in a couple of hours, making sure the customer was at the forefront of these designs and got what they wanted first time.

In general I love design. I live for it, keeping up-to-date with new and interesting trends, accomplishments in the world of design. I feel this love for design is something I can bring to the role. I have used adobe for a number of years now and I am proficient in all the major programs - Photoshop, illustrator, Dreamweaver, InDesign, flash, fireworks, acrobat - along with working knowledge of Soundbooth, and bridge. I am interested in screenprinting, typography and photography, all of which I do in my spare time so that I continually learn and try to better my skills.
