About me

I am writing to you in the hope you can help me with my current pursuit to finally escape eight years of bar tending! I am planning to leave Ireland for a big new adventure to the London metropolis. Although I am grateful for the wage the bar-tending has provided me with, I feel it is time to use the degrees I have been awarded and concentrate on working solely within the field of design, marketing and communication.

In 2010, I obtained a 'Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Design in Visual Communications' from the Limerick School of Art & Design (LIT). Since then simultaneous to the bar-work, I have been working as a freelance designer and have been building my portfolio for a range of clients in Ireland. Although it would be too bold to say I have a 'solid stint' of work experience from a design firm, like any good 'trade' I have indeed been working in the broad field of communication since qualifying and have never been short of work.

I have recently completed a Master of Arts dissertation on the designs of the navigational, info-graphic and way-finding aids belonging to the old Dublin Tramway at the National College of Art and Design (UCD), which has given me a deeper knowledge of the interactive and valued relationship between society and all objects of design.

In my portfolio I have shown advanced levels of conceptual development, which allow for mature visual exploration and communication in my work that is personally biased and professionally informed. I strive to continue to demonstrate a working application of semiotic values to images, visual compositions and messages and I am also determined to tackle any set problem across a range of media encountered in any design brief.

I have work experience from design houses and printers. I admit I am not hugely proficient in motion graphics but I am a quick learner and I am willing to hit the ground running and throw my hand to anything. Nonetheless, to 'add more feathers to my cap' per se, I have also completed an additional course in web design and development and completed a foundation course in User Experience [UX] Training.

I consider the people hired by your company 'the lucky ones' and finding a job is by no means an easy process, my desire is to begin working in a company, such as Purple's, whose diverse team allows for contrasting ideas and skills to be brought to the table, and as a result, a better end-product is always produced.

A job opportunity working with Purple would enable me to be closer to my goal of advancing my career, furthering my knowledge, and producing better design.
