About me
I completed my degree in Journalism at City, University of London and have relevant work experience in the journalism sector. Through these job experiences, I have developed excellent written and communication skills by producing several articles for various publications, including The Times, Press Association, and Thomson Reuters.
As part of my course, I wrote investigative pieces which were marked as being at a 'high publishing standard" and I attended several workshops which focused on pitching and researching ideas for articles, podcasts and videos which enhanced my pitching skills and public speaking.
As a journalist, I am constantly interviewing people, either face to face or on the phone. Being professional and patient when speaking with an interviewee, but still being able to be firm and stick to the point, are skills that I have developed while working as a freelance reporter in Italy. There, I was also in charge of reviewing and correcting news articles and features written by my colleagues in English language for the website of the newspaper, so I developed a good eye for spelling and grammar mistakes.
At university, through the module 'Online and Social Media Journalism', I have learnt the use of content management systems and social channels, including Wordpress, where I created one of my personal websites and Excel, for collecting data.
Through the module 'Visual Journalism' I have learnt the basics of Adobe Photoshop while I mastered Adobe InDesign this year through the module 'Advanced Practical Journalism' where I produced an entire magazine from scratch.
With the module 'Advanced Broadcasting Journalism' I have acquired knowledge in Adobe Audition and Premiere Pro.
Furthermore, during Marketing events hosted by City University, I have often been in charge of managing the social media accounts, sponsoring City with SMO tweets and Instagram stories.
While working in journalism, I have been part of a team of hundreds of journalists, proving the ability to stay in the role and collaborate with others to produce news content, but also to be proactive when necessary. I have no fear of multitasking and working to tight deadlines often taking initiative, especially in stressful situations. This strength has allowed me to try different roles from reporting to social media manager, acquiring competence in organisation and management.
