About me
George Azmy is an Egyptian illustrator born in Cairo, 1983.
During his bachelor years at the Fine Arts Faculty at Helwan University in Cairo, Azmy Worked in several design houses which established him as an established graphic designer on graduation. He was later awarded the Cannes Lions and Clio advertising awards as an art director at several global advertising agencies.
In 2007, he had his first solo exhibition "Planet Cairo", followed by a group exhibition "Breaking Boredom", both held at the Townhouse gallery in Cairo.
George is also a prominent stand up comedian and his skits feed of his sharp observational skills which he employs in his art work. Spanning subjects from the day to day bureaucracies of a city to the most intimate details of a young man's life, George's work is as dark humoured as it is deeply insightful.
