Dear Sir/ Madam,

I am hereby applying for the vacancy for a Print Designer as advertised on creativepool.co.uk (ref. JW13354). As an innovative, enthusiastic and hardworking Graphic designer I have worked in the design and print industry for over 15 years specialising in Promotional and Editorial design using Creative Suite and Quarkxpress.

I have been employed by publishing companies including Trinity Mirror and Archant Life where I have gained experience and knowledge. During my career I have been involved in various media projects and have succeeded in meeting the requirements efficiently.

I usually work in a studio environment with a team although on occasion I have worked as a solo designer. My duties have generally been based around supporting a Sales or Design teams. On all occasions I have provided creative solutions to the desired time frames exceeding expectations for clients and employees.

My knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign and Quarkxpress has

been enhanced by a HNC in Print Management and HND in Retail design. Also my attention to detail and commitment to my employees and fellow designers/ managers have developed me into an efficient and focused team player.

Working in a team is where my enthusiastic nature, cheerful personality and ability is best utilised. On many occasions I have contributed creative input regarding slogans, headings and campaigns so my ideas have excelled beyond the design capacity. I have worked on both Mac and PC platforms.

My most recent post as an Editorial designer for Archant proved my

ability to design bold and innovative magazine pages in short

time frames. As part of a Production team, each designer had their own titles to work on. I was responsible for all Editorial design including covers on two magazine titles Angel and Live City & Islington so deadlines were very strict. Understanding the CMYK process, pagination, typography and layout was essential.

As a designer I have always taken a great deal of pride in my work no

matter the capacity of the project. My work assignments have included

a wide range of printed material including magazines, advertisement

campaigns, booklets, full CD artwork. I have also designed DVD menus

,web tiles and banners.

I am also a freehand illustrator with a large collection of artwork.

My illustrations and cartoon storyboards are created using ink and

watercolours and have been reproduced on T-shirts, record sleeves

and other promotional materials. I am certain I would be a suitable candidate for the vacancy advertised. I adapt to work environments quickly and love the challenge of meeting creative goals.
