About me
Dear Sir / Madam
I have recently arrived from Australia and am seeking work in the proofreading or publishing sector. I have just completed an Honours degree in History, achieving First Class results, and am a qualified and experienced secondary teacher. My work experience and qualifications have provided me with relevant transferable skills required for the position advertised.
My leadership roles in education, and work experience in copywriting, hospitality and tourism, have required considerable interpersonal and communication skills. My roles as a copywriter and secondary English teacher have provided me with outstanding proofreading skills in a variety of written formats. These positions also involved writing and other editorial tasks in a deadline-driven, customer-focused and ethically-concerned environment. I have developed the ability to quickly process and analyse complex information, and produce critical findings in written and oral reporting forms. Further, I can utilise a number of instructional and persuasive strategies to consistently encourage diverse groups toward the achievement of learning, sales and production targets, learnt in my roles as a teacher and copywriter.
The History Honours research I undertook in 2011 and 2012, explored the economic, cultural and political issues faced by various historical communities in both western and non-western contexts. I decided to undertake this research after spending just over two years as a secondary English and Humanities teacher, during which time I became interested in issues faced by students from disadvantaged and/or minority backgrounds. My university research and broader work experiences have furnished me with excellent understandings of international issues, as well as advanced research and analytical skills.
I would love the chance to develop my skills in a new environment outside of Australia and would be happy to work in either a short or long-term position.
Yours Sincerely,
Fran Haynes.
