About me
As an Industrial Design and Technology BA graduate from Loughborough University, I feel that I have a desirable skill set for the junior design position. My degree course has provided me with a solid grounding in a variety of design approaches and principles; focusing on user centred design and creating practical solutions.
Design has been an aspiration of mine throughout my life. In 2003, I won a competition to design a new garden for a local Children's Hospice. The project work throughout my degree course has developed a variety of design skills, from sketching to 3D modelling. Although I have studied modules, which related well to my industrial placement, the opportunity to put other design theory into practice focus on commercial product design is now of real interest to me.
Throughout my placement and the final year of my degree, I have begun to develop my time management skills, by ensuring all university and personal deadlines set and completed. This
was especially important throughout my final major design project where it was critical to balance your time between each stage of your project to ensure all requirements were completed thoroughly and to a high standard.
I focused my final year major design project on a device to encourage children to wash their hands properly. The development of this project has allowed me to understand the importance
of the whole user experience with a product. This was developed from initial user research stage throughout the projects to ensure a commercial realistic outcome was created.
I am now keen to improve my knowledge of design within a commercial environment. I would consider myself to be a confident, hardworking and enthusiastic individual, who
believes that new design challenges are exciting, not daunting.
I believe I have all the credentials for the job opportunity and I look forward to hearing from you soon.
Yours sincerely,
Fiona Barker
