About me
I completed a foundation degree in Design for Digital Technologies at Bath because it combined my interests in photo-manipulation, animation and 3D, but soon realised that it is photographic images that really grab me and let me express myself in the way I want to.
For the last six months I have been working in the graphics department at Atkins, mostly reorganising marketing material. It has been a good experience because it has reinforced what I already knew, that I'm not going to be able to settle until I'm working towards becoming a photographer.
I love every aspect of photography. I go to every exhibition I can. I have numerous books. I collect other people's pictures. I have a growing collection of cameras. I'm fascinated by technical issues. I love the effects of lighting, textures, juxtaposition of shapes. It also has the advantage of being hands on.
I don't have a background in photography. I am self-taught. But what I lack in experience I have in enthusiasm, drive and energy.
I'm aware that my greatest downfall is my lack of experience in the field but as I've said this is a real interest and the job would be as much about learning and feeding my soul and passion as it is about money - which as my last job proved to me is not enough of a reason.
I'm in a catch twenty two where I am not allowed to get any experience until I already have some under my belt. Give me an opportunity and I would give it my all.
