About me

I have over two years experience as an artworker in a pre-press (CTP) department for a packaging company. A general day consisted of receiving files either via e-mail or disk and doing general artworking on the supplied art according to customer specifications. This included color retouching, typesetting, layout, redrawing and designing. I also did stepping which then got saved via distilling and preflighting in Adobe Acrobat. The next step for me would be to process thermal plates on a CTP system that ran through Agfa ApogeeX software. I have a good working knowledge of packaging and the printing process from estimating through to production and invoicing. I was liaising with the Litho (solid board), Flexo (corrugated), dye cutting and glueing managers on a daily basis thus giving me a good understanding of the entire process. I am also proficient with varnishing, spot varnishing, embossing and foiling. We worked on all types of cartons including, crashlock, H-lock and POS. General administrative work included doing quotes, invoicing, ordering consumables and daily telephonic contact with reps, clients and customers.
