About me

Dear Sirs,

Having been a Lighting Designer and Project Manager at SKK Lighting, in London for over a year, I was working alongside designer and director Shiu-Kay Kan and played a pivotal role within the company. By liaising with clients, I designed bespoke light fittings and lighting schemes which lead to producing 2D and 3D technical drawings for manufacture. I can design, control and manage an entire project from conception to completion and I feel confident to be part of this process, and it is one that I truly enjoy. I undertook many extensive projects and some examples include Carluccio's Restaurant in Manchester, the Regent Street Christmas window display lighting for retailer COS, Rebecca Hossack Art Gallery, Lord McAlpine's private Art Gallery and garden lighting for Princess Von Hanover.

Previous to this employment I attended Buckinghamshire Chilterns University College where I graduated in Contemporary Furniture Design and Related products. I was privileged to collaborate with various companies during my degree such as Isokon and Howden Joinery. My final year was spent looking at the concept of design meeting craft and vice versa, within a furniture context. Exploring this boundary, I used various making techniques, and focused heavily on a collaboration project with Ercol. Not only using and making in wood and metal, I explored different finishing techniques and decorative techniques such as gold leafing and also took part in other craft based courses such as basket weaving and an upholstery class. I wanted to gain more and more knowledge of furniture making processes and so I took it upon myself to make all of my final year pieces as I felt that in order to design furniture I had to know how it was made.

I am a confident, conscientious and enthusiastic individual. I feel that I am extremely approachable and can assert myself when the need arises as well as welcoming advice from others. I am reliable and extremely well organised and obtain the flexibility needed to apply myself to any given situation and employment requirement.
