I am writing to you today to apply for the freelance sub editor position that is advertised. I believe that by becoming a freelance sub editor with your company; I would be able to enhance my proofreading, copywriting and editing skills, which at present are continuously developing as a result of being solely and jointly responsible on numerous book publishing and editorial projects, which includes everything from proofreading and intensive editing, whilst also continuously completing a succession of administrative duties and creating various promotional materials, which of course requires thorough proofreading as well.

During my short but informative and progressive career as a freelance editor and indexer, I have undertaken numerous responsibilities which have constantly pushed me and made me become more independent. I have even begun to teach proof-reading and copy editing to work experience students, as well as academics who are part of a publishing course associated with the Commonwealth. I believe the range of skills that I am acquiring at present and which have evolved throughout my two university degrees, such as my attention to detail and my complete enthusiasm for the written word, will benefit your company.
