About me

Given my heavily mathematical degree and most recent role being an analyst for a start-up firm, I can understand why you may have reservations about my suitability for this position. I would like to emphasise that English, writing and indeed the publishing world have always been a great passion of mine. Starting during my school days when I completed an internship with the infamous publishing house Conde Nast, the industry lights up something inside me that no amount of stocks, shares or sterling have ever managed. I decided that this was the way forward for my career and left my role with EPG to pursue it, having been working as a freelance writer ever since.

Volunteering is something that has always been close to my heart; ranging from everything to assisting juniors with reading and writing in 6th form, to mentoring refugee children at Salusbury World summer school, teaching English abroad in an impoverished Thai village and being appointed head of volunteering for UCL MODO society. I am particularly proud of the latter, since not only I was the youngest committee member, but I was responsible for the planning and execution of a project run locally throughout the academic year, resulting in us being awarded 'UCL Volunteering Society of the Year'.

Public speaking and presentations are a part of working life that, whilst it insights fear in others, I really enjoy. In 6th form I was picked to represent my school in the 'target 2.0' competition, which involved presenting ideas to members of the Bank of England; as a team we reached the county finals and I received commendation from a judge on my personal presentation skills. During my time with Barclays I utilised these skills once again, when I was awarded the prize for best group presentation by Managing Directors.

This role is a fresh, new and exciting prospect for me. I could write extensively about my qualifications and my creativity, my drive and my passion, my ability to work in a team and my unfaltering positivity. But so could everyone else. I can offer you more than the average applicant: let me prove this to you in person.
