About me

I am a creative, organized individual who has recently graduated from Loughborough University with a Graphic Communication Degree. I am currently working at Anglian Chemicals; assisting with updating their website, producing new product images using photoshop, writing fresh web copy and creating their website banner. I am also a Voluntary Graphic Designer for Norfolk Eating Disorder Association.

I was a Graphic Designer for IRS Ltd; a sign company who make road traffic signs, safety signs, baggage gauges, vehicle graphics and other commercial signs. I composed drawings/designs required by customers and assisting in the presentation of marketing literature, and preparing vinyls for production using plotters. I developed digital print using Indesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Wissen Castop R3 and Signplot. I have completed a Dreamweaver course at Norwich Arts Centre which has given me basic website skills.

I also worked at East Anglian Air Ambulance Charity, participating on a Graduate Marketing/PR Internship. I assisted in preparing press releases, logging media enquires, preparing marketing profile raising materials; working with the Corporate Fundraising Manager on researching and preparing contacts for the Business on Board Scheme. I also designed any visuals using their branding guidelines. I adapt well to new situations and I am able to work effectively as part of a team by being flexible, dependable and hardworking to meet deadlines and targets. I am enthusiastic and enjoy learning new skills. I am self- motivated and have a friendly positive personality.

I enjoy meeting new challenges and seeing them through to completion. I have strong planning and time management skills. My highlight from my placement at Friends of the Earth was to re-design a newspaper prop for 'Join the Moovement! campaign at Friends of the Earth. I have also worked on creating an identity for Loughborough and designing a logo. My most recent project within my degree was to redesign the James and the Giant Peach cover for Penguin books brief using child friendly typography with tactile elements. During this project I used the layout skills, which I had gained on my placement at Carlton Books. I also redesigned price tags for partially sighted people. Another project of my degree was to redesign Boost energy drinks and to give them a new identity. I really enjoyed this project where I re-branded the drink with a heat sensitive can that changes colour when you hold it and gave it a new logo/identity. I am always thinking about what message I want to communicate and how the audience will feel when they see my work. In this way, I feel that it helps my ideas progress into the final solution.

I am happy to relocate to the area, I am passionate about branding, advertising and the design industry. I have attached my CV which includes my portfolio. I am very much looking forward to hearing from you.

Yours Sincerely

Emily Stocks
