About me
I am 23, have a First Degree in Filmmaking and I have a passion for tv and film production. I am particularly interested in working in the AD department or production, having specialised in assistant directing and producing at The Northern Film School at Leeds Beckett University. Here I learnt how to schedule and lead small scale film shoots, find locations and liaise with cast, contributors and other crew members, but I am keen to broaden my knowledge and experience on professional shoots.
At The Northern Film School I produced and firsted two documentaries about disabled rights, one of which was a 'fly on the wall' documentary that challenged the stigma and negativity surrounding disability and the other investigated the Disability Discrimination Act of 1995 and questioned if much had changed. The former was shown at Aesthetica Short Film Festival and Harrogate Film Festival and was nominated for an award at Atlanta Shortsfest and the RTS Student Television Awards.
My recent credits on a feature film, an ITV drama, a BFI Short Film, and two unscripted Channel 5 shows, helped me gain an understanding of what it takes to work on set and on location. As a runner, I was responsible for tending to the cast, director and producer, understanding their needs and making sure they were well look after during long shoot days. I liaised with crew and made sure water, tea and coffee were readily available throughout each shoot. I set up dining areas and production offices, making sure they were kept clean and tidy, and set up and took down signs across set and location. I also had the responsibility of running errands and purchasing products using the company card, as well as helping volunteers fill out contributor forms. On these jobs my passion for assistant directing and production only grew, as I begun to understand how much I love working with other talented individuals.
