About me

I have recently finished studying at Chichester College, where I completed a 2 year BTEC National Higher Diploma course in Interactive Media. In this course I explored different aspects of the media; such as filming TV adverts, designing and creating websites, producing DVD menus and music videos. I really enjoyed the designing stages. I liked to sketch out ideas and try to figure out what works and what doesn't. I improved my ideas as I progressed through the projects, understanding when aspects didn't work and then correcting them.

In my spare time I usually look around, online, books and in specialist magazines for tips and tricks to learn. I carry out tutorials and gather resources that I find to build myself a collection of images, fonts, brushes etc so that I can play around and learn how they all work and what they work with. I am currently working on an online portfolio, which I will be publishing shortly. This is an exciting project that I am really enjoying creating and I hope that soon it will be live for the public to view.

I have been gaining work experience at Super Signs, a company run by my parents. I create signs, graphics and respond to customer needs using programmes such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and Coral Draw 12. I feel that I have learnt a lot from working here, but I want to expand my knowledge and learn more by working in a different environment. I think moving away from my parents business would be very beneficial for me, as I can then explore others area of work I enjoy.

I would really like to get into the field of advertising. I like the idea of having a product and then thinking of ideas and designs to interest its consumers. I enjoy coming up with the layout, choosing how it will look, working out what colours fonts and images would work best.

If possible, I am looking for a work placement to broaden my experiences in a different environment and I am able to start immediately. I think that the more work experience I get, the greater the chance of expanding my knowledge. I would love the opportunity to come and work at your business. I am enthusiastic and I would work hard. I hope that I could bring something to your business to make it a mutually beneficial experience for both of us.
