About me
I have just returned to London from a five month post working as the Marketing and Communications Intern at Sangam World Centre of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts.
In my role at Sangam, I worked in a small team, and was responsible for a host of things across the Centre, including the creation and implementation of a visual style across all of Sangam's communications. When I arrived at Sangam, there were no style rules in place; I created these rules for both digital and printed communication, and then taught the staff how to use the templates effectively to ensure that Sangam produces clear and coherent communications. My other duties consisted of the maintenance and updating of the website and social media presences, through the monitoring of comments, quality-checking content, and creating assets for videos. I aided the Deputy World Centre Manager: Operations in effective management of the on-site shop and developed new product ideas and orchestrated their manufacture through close relationships with local suppliers. As one of two members of the marketing team, I also marketed the events and volunteer opportunities at Sangam. In the beginning of my post I created a four-year marketing timeline plan - something that did not exist before I took on this role. My design skills and knowledge garnered notice throughout the international headquarters of WAGGGS, and I went above and beyond my role as Sangam's Marketing and Communications Intern to do similar design work for the other three World Centres. With all of these different facets to my job, project and time-management were skills I used on a day-to-day basis in order to ensure all projects were completed in a timely manner and that deadlines were kept.
In my previous positions, I have had the opportunity to work closely with many creative individuals, through which I have developed a keen eye for detail. I worked for major global brands during my time at Universal Networks International, which helped me to develop the ability to work with and understand many disciplines and different avenues of design.
In June 2011 I graduated from University College Falmouth with a degree in Graphic Design; I am a passionate designer with a love for typography, well-crafted designs and trying new things. I have become a master at juggling projects and meeting multiple deadlines. I thrive under pressure and pride myself on my attention to detail. I believe that through my past work experiences I have acquired all of the skills you are calling for in the Junior Designer position, and believe I would be an excellent fit for the job.
Thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely,
Emily Hatcher
