Dear Sir or Madam:

I am applying for the graphic design position. I have completed a Graphic Design degree at Plymouth College Of Art; and have graduated in October 2014 with a 2.2. I have a good level of design understanding and experience showcased through my creative personality additionally through a portfolio reflecting a variety of skills including,

o Typography; type compositions, type anatomy, classifications, pairing, drawing hand drawn and digital type.

o Publishing, understanding Layout design, Indesign & bleeds, columns & alignment. All techniques applied to create both digital and printed sketchbooks.

o Experience and knowledge in print making; screen-printing, dry point, flock and foil, laser cutting, Lino printing, mono printing, transfer printing & letter pressing on both materials and paper.

o Vector design; digital portraits.

o Branding and logo design.

o Photography; models, cars, band and night time photography, action photography and many more.

I believe working for your reputable company would expand on my knowledge and experience making me the ideal candidate. I may not have a great deal of experience but I am one determined cookie.

I accepted an award for being one of three most progressive students within my class of 43 students at Plymouth College. Additionally my work was selected and exhibited by Plymouth City Council at Plymouth council house. I also dedicated a year of my spare time being a voluntary Photographer and Graphic Designer for three Plymouth based media teams; Plymouth Hoe Waterfront, Plymouth Barbican Waterfront & Eddystone Media. Plus completing single and collaborated freelance projects for small companies / friends throughout my degree.

I would be suitable for the position as I am always developing current and new skills within my design works, I enjoy learning from others and keeping up to date with design. I also work on personal projects as a way of staying fresh and developing my skills meaning I bring enthusiasm and fresh ideas to the table. I consider myself to be a down to earth graduate from working in retail and sales since graduating. It reminds me everyday, how fortunate I would be to become a graphic designer.
